About Us

Suryakala Foundation is a non-profit foundation for the promotion of Indian Classical Dance and Music. This foundation is the brain child of Divya Devaguptapu, Dr. Kanakam Devaguptapu and Seshagiri Rao Devaguptapu. The foundation aims to ideate, curate and present classical dance & music with continued relevance to today’s audiences without tampering with the structure or diluting classicism.

The goals of the trust include:

To curate and present art that pushes boundaries
To foster collaborations and artistic dialogues between dancers, musicians and artists from allied arts through an annual arts festival celebrating artistic and creative freedom
To take the performing arts to the underserved communities through residencies and outreach activities
To take the performing arts, especially dance, back to the temples through monthly performances at smaller temples through the city
To identify and support artistic talent among the underprivileged through scholarships and provide financial assistance for learning
To collaborate with organizations in underserved areas and present dance alongside music as part of their monthly concerts
To support and assist financially research in the arts. The details of the requirements and obligations are TBA.
